Bulgaria is Celebrating the Thirteenth World Day of Geographic Information Systems on 16th and 17th of November

Each year in November the world celebrates the Day of Geographic Information Systems. This year it will be celebrated in Bulgaria on 16th and 17th of November with multiple events at the leading universities in the country and with an Official Cocktail accompanied by Exhibition-Competition for Maps.

These events are organized under the patronage of the Ministry of Transport, Information Technology and Communications and the Ministry of Environment and Water, with the kind cooperation of ESRI Bulgaria, HP Bulgaria, GIS Varna and the Bulgarian Geological Information Company.  GIS Day 2011 is organized with the official partnership of BASSCOM, BGBC, BAGIS, NAMRB, Green Balkans, FLGR, Bulgarian Cartographic Association, University of Mining and Geology, Geological and Geographical faculty of Sofia University, University of Architecture, Civil Engineering and Geodesy, University of Forestry and with the media support of Construction and the City newspaper.

The GIS Day celebration in Bulgaria aims to promote Geospatial Technology; to enable governmental, non-governmental, business and academic organizations to meet and exchange their experience, share their achievements and strategic vision for the implementation of GIS in Bulgaria.

With each passing year the GIS community in Bulgaria is growing and the GIS Day is becoming more and more popular, covering all spheres of economic life!
