Estonia’s e-Health Solution Receives Best Technological Solution Award

Estonia’s e-health solution was awarded with the best technological solution award on Tuesday at the World Government Summit in Dubai, reports LETA/BNS.

Deputy chairman of the Estonian parliament Taavi Roivas who accepted the award said that the innovativeness of Estonia’s e-health solution which is based on the Guardtime technology is being recognized, spokespeople for the parliament said.

“Estonia is the first country in the world which uses the blockchain technology to guarantee the security and trustworthiness of people’s health data. We are pioneers in the field. Hopefully the award will inspire us to develop even more e-services,”

— Roivas said.

Guardtime CEO Mike Gault was also present at the accepting of the award. Guardtime is a technology company which was founded in Estonia and in cooperation with the company the security of Estonian patients’ data is guaranteed in the e-health information system.

The award is used to recognize a government which offers effectively and successfully government services with new technological solutions. The award is given to an innovative project that changes people’s lives.

The award was presented by Vice President and Prime Minister of the United Arab Emirates, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum.

A mobile application of Estonia’s state-owned energy company Eesti Energia was recognized in the category as the best environmental mobile service.
