Hungary’s telecommunications authority NMHH launched a new online number porting status service that is available at krapub.nmhh.hu.

Over 2,000 visitors used the web interface since its launch to enquire about the porting status of telephone numbers.

The website is also available in English. Subscribers get updated and quick information about the called numbers at the online number porting status website, which uses the Central Reference Database (CRD) of NMHH to inform users whether a phone number is ported and to which service provider it belongs to.

This information is important to the caller party because call rates change when switching to a new service provider as per its new tariff schedule.

Statistically, 10,000 phone numbers on average move between the networks of service providers each month.
