IBM Day 2012 in Belarus

On April 5, IBA in cooperation with IBM Eastern Europe/Asia (IBM EE/A) and NETKOM, an IBM distributor in the CIS countries, conducted the workshop IBM Day 2012 in Minsk, Belarus. The seminar Smart IT Solutions: Effective Business Opportunities was dedicated to innovative IBM-based solutions that IBA offers to its Belarusian customers.
The focus of the workshop was opportunities of cloud computing, trends and approaches to efficient business management throughout various industries, and new IBA solutions based on IBM platforms.

More than 160 representatives of 83 banks and insurance, transport, machine-building, food, chemical, and energy companies, as well as scientific, educational, and government institutions attended the event.

Sergei Akoulich, IBA First Deputy Director General, Olga Sergienko, IBM EE/A Sales Representative for CIS countries, and Alex Sakharov, Team Leader for Marketing at NETKOM, welcomed the audience.
Opening the workshop, Akoulich said: “At IBM Day events, we present the most advanced and innovative solutions that we think will become trendy and in-demand at the CIS IT market. At first, the IBM Day seminars were focused on technologies. Today we are striving to demonstrate the functional business solutions based on IBM technologies. Earlier, we were presenting innovative solutions to create budgeting systems, business analysis and forecasting tools that allow for processing of huge arrays of information, taking precise management decisions, and making realistic forecasts. We were informing you about the corporate warehouses of unstructured information and telling about business process management systems. Today, we see that these solutions are in high demand in the market. Moreover, we have already successfully implemented the technologies that we presented as innovative at previous events in a number of companies.”

IBA, IBM EE/A, and NETKOM delivered the following presentations:

  • Creation of cloud IT infrastructure in a company
  • Cloud computing: regularity of technological evolution
  • IBM Tivoli: trends and approaches to effective management of IT infrastructure
  • Technical maintenance and repairs: process management by the example of Technical Center
  • Optimization of legacy systems using migration to a single IBM platform
  • IBM Enterprise Content Management (ECM) as a single platform to manage unstructured information. Workload reduction at IT departments using IBM FileNet
  • IBM FileNet: IBA competencies and solutions
  • From Lotus to ICS. Strategy of products’ consolidation
  • Chancellor 6.0: new release, new opportunities.

At the event, IBA announced a release of Cloud Chancellor based on IBM XPages technologies. The product will be available by the summer of 2012.

At the IBA display stands, the participants were able to learn more about Chancellor 6.0. and to talk to the product’s developers.

In addition, Ivan Vroublevski, IBA HR Director, and Alexander Sorokin, IBM University Relations Manager Russia/CIS, handed over the certificates Software Requirement Management with IBM Rational DOORS to the students of the Belarusian State University of Informatics and Radioelectronics (BSUIR). The students successfully completed the corresponding courses at Academic Center of IBM Competences.

Summing up the event’s results, Akoulich said: “Being organizers of the IBM Day events, we hope that the smart ideas and methodological approaches presented today will be implemented by enterprises, banks, and public sector in near future.”
