Russian online cinema Megogo launches own virtual reality app

Russian online cinema Megogo has released its own Virtual Reality application named Megogo VR,which is available in all major areas of presence in the CIS and Baltic States.

Now 3D movies with Virtual Reality Mode and 2D movies with Cinema Effect are available to owners of mobile devices on the Android platform. In the near future, the release of an application for iOS is expected as well.

The basic requirement for the use of the VR application is an Android-based smartphone and one of many cardboard holder masks. A smartphone is fixed on the mask, which is worn by the moviegoer.

The application can be downloaded for free from Google Play.

The new Megogo VR product is available for mobile devices such as the Sony Z5 Premium, Samsung Galaxy S6+, Galaxy S6 edge, Galaxy S6 edge +, Samsung Note 4 and Note 5. The list of devices is continuously being updated as the process of testing and adaptation of the technology goes on.

Megogo is the first legal VoD service and has been launched in fifteen countries of what used to be the Soviet Union (USSR). It has been operating since November 2011. Since the end of 2012, it has been available worldwide.

The monthly audience for the video services is over 40 million unique users. The Megogo catalogue covers over 77,000 video units: feature films, documentaries, cartoons, TV series, programmes and shows, live sports and cultural events, news footage and music videos.

Megogo is a multi-screen system for all leading devices: iPod, iPhone, iPad, Android devices; LG, Sony, Samsung, Panasonic, Philips, Toshiba Smart TV sets; Dune HD, Aura media consoles; Pocketbook electronic books, etc.
