Netherlands-Based TomTom Launches Real-Time Traffic Service in Bulgaria

Netherlands-based navigation and mapping service provider TomTom said on Thursday it launched its real-time Traffic service in Bulgaria.

“Our aim is to continuously empower drivers, businesses and governments by providing accurate traffic information to better manage traffic flow, increase road safety and ease the impact of congestion on the environment,”

Ralf-Peter Schafer, head of Traffic and Travel Information division at TomTom, said in a statement posted on the company’s website.

Despite recent modernisation programmes to help tackle congestion in Bulgaria’s capital Sofia, the city suffers from substantial traffic jams and excessive air pollution, TomTom added.

TomTom also launched its Traffic service in India on Thursday, extending its global reach to 52 countries.

The company employs over 4,600 worldwide, operating from 58 offices in 35 countries.
