With 16,000 IT specialists graduating from Ukrainian universities each year, our country holds the 4th position globally for the number of IT specialists. By the number of graduates Ukraine holds leadership position together with the USA, India and Russia.

This information was revealed recently by the leading association of the Ukrainian software development and IT outsourcing companies Ukrainian Hi-Tech Initiative in the “Exploring Ukraine. IT Outsourcing Industry” report. According to the report, over the last 8 years the volume of software development and IT outsourcing services market has grown by a factor ten or 30-40% annually in average.

According to the hh.ua staff portal over 15.000 open positions in the section ‘Information Technologies/Internet/Telecom’ were registered in 2012 all over Ukraine. As for geographical distribution of Ukrainian IT specialists, 40% of them work in our capital city Kyiv, 19% in Kharkiv, 16% in Lviv, 7% in Dnepropetrovsk and 4% in Odessa.

In general, such a positive market trend may increase the volume of the Ukrainian IT market up till 3.6 billion dollars in 2013 – reports the National Commission for the State Regulation of Communications and Informatization. It’s worth mentioning that more than 50% of the Ukrainian IT market is exporting of IT services or software development outsourcing. Namely, in 2011 exports of IT services reached 1 billion dollars mark increasing to 1.4-1.5 billion dollars in 2012. Experts say that the most promising areas of the industry from now on will be services related to outsourcing and system integration plus development of cloud computing technologies.
