Yandex Planning to Enter Baltic Market with Taxi-Hailing App

Russian company Yandex which offers internet services is planning to enter the Baltic countries, Kazakhstan and Georgia with its taxi-hailing app Yandex.Taxi,write LETA/BNS according to Interfax information.

Before the end of this year Yandex.Taxi, a subsidiary of Yandex, is planning to launch its operations in Kazakhstan, Georgia and the capital cities of Estonia and Latvia, the CEO of Yandex.Taxi, Tigran Hudaverdjan, said in an interview to the Vedomosti newspaper.

In July Yandex.Taxi launched its operations in Yerevan and Minsk. According to the company their app is the most popular taxi-hailing app in Moscow, St. Petersburg and Yekaterinburg. In the next two years the company wants to become the most popular transport app in the whole Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS).

According to Hudaverdjan, the company is not ruling out purchasing other similar companies, but is not planning to do that in the near future.

Yandex.Taxi only cooperates with taxi companies and operates in more than 20 cities in Russia and CIS.
