The Serbian government today introduced a program of state support for IT sector . The program consists of four segments – startups, outsourcing, development and export of original software products and development centers of large multinational companies, according Startit.rs.
The program also provides tax breaks for companies engaged in the production of software and software support to exporters, and is planned to improve the legal framework and education.
The long-awaited package that aims to develop startup ecosystems in Serbia brings a lot of improvements, the most significant is that the startups will continue to be provided grants of up to 25,000 euros. However, startups these funds will not be able to get just because they are not given directly to domestic or foreign investors, and can not be greater than 50 percent of the total approved budget of the project and up to 25,000 euros.
Basically, this means that startups will first have to find an investor to be eligible to obtain government assistance. Investors and micro / small businesses can apply for the vacancy, and the government will form a special commission to consider whether investors meet the requirements of public competitors, based on criteria published in advance and the evidence submitted.
