Broadband Services Forum in Poland is the largest meeting point for key representatives of telecom, media and Internet markets, as well as public administration. Always up-to-date Forum Agenda and excellent speakers portfolio – both from Polish market and from abroad – is the landmark for this event. Effective dialog and cooperation of the media, telecom and public sector is the key enabler for broadband market growth in Poland.

Every year this Forum is organized with close cooperation with numerous partners and patrons – ranging from leading market vendors, to trade and market chambers, also public institutions crucial to broadband growth in Poland.

Program assumptions

Along with the development of the next-generation networks (NGN) changes occur in the perception of what we understand by broadband access. For the currently planned networks it should be assumed that every user should have a connection allowing them to enjoy similar high-quality audio-visual services, including television, both in the municipal and rural areas. Suppliers of broadband services are going to want to fully exploit the possibilities afforded by interactivity and the ability to offer content on any technically feasible transmission platforms. Search is under way for efficient business models involving cooperation of various market players and broadband services which will provide new sources of revenue. There is a new vision to offer users new service value, qualitative change of the dimension in at least such an extent as was the case during the spread of mobile telephony a few years ago. Only after a few years after the formal liberalization of the market a practical perspective of convergence is taking shape: the markets of telecommunications operators, TV and radio broadcasters, and content providers are mixed in the same business environment. Existing divisions are still present in companies coming from different business cultures, built on different regulatory systems. It should be clear to everybody that we need to seek new rules, ways of offering content and services, that the future structure of the market is likely to be different than today.

Main topics

  • The language of new media, ways of formulating the message of IP TV and mobile TV. The TV of the future.
  • Who will build the NGN networks? The impact of these networks on the change of the market structure.
  • Ensuring universal access to services in broadband networks as a significant social and economic challenge. Public funding involvement in order to accelerate infrastructure development in areas so far neglected.
  • Models of cooperation of local governments and commercial operators and the development of competition.
  • Regulating the market – what we achieved, where we are going, the potential threats.
  • Responsibility for content and security of message in broadband services.
  • Innovative broadband services for consumers – in particular interactive entertainment.
  • Innovative use of broadband services in business.
  • Access technologies and transport network technologies – what are the effects of using new technologies?

Key problems (IP)

During the Vth forum we want to initiate discussions on several problem areas of problems and issues relevant to further development of the broadband services market in Poland. Debates on these issues will be organized with key partners of the Forum, and their results will be presented to the public, which includes the media and decision-making bodies of the legislative and executive authorities. An effective solution of these problems will determine further development of this market in Poland.

In particular they pertain to such areas as:

  • Broadband and the public sector.
  • Digitization of TV and new services, i.e. what television will dominate the future?
  • New generation networks.
  • Optimal market regulation.

The final shape of the forum agenda this year and the scope of the aforementioned IP issues will be formed through dialogue with the creators of the broadband market. Advertise with us!
