On 15 and 16 April 2009 the Clarion Congress Hotel in Prague hosted the 10th year of Cisco Expo, one of the largest conferences on information and communication technology in the Czech Republic. Among the key partners of the conference there was a Czech company ANECT a.s. (Data Center Partner), represented by one of its experts Petr Jambor, who gave a talk about the solution of the Prague City Hall Data Center.

The program of the 10th Cisco Expo Conference (which focused mainly on the area of video and cooperation) included 27 lectures and 7 full-day seminars for experts called techtorials, each of them dealing with one area of technology in great detail. One of the techtorials focused primarily on data centers of a new generation.

About a hundred participants of this techtorial had a chance to hear various experts, one of them being Petr Jambor from ANECT a.s., who presented the solution of the Prague City Hall Data Center. This project was implemented in the first quarter of this year by ANECT a.s. (in cooperation with Com-Sys TRADE).

The project objective was to build a data center that will be able to meet many requirements of the city hall, such as separating the access and distribution layer, increasing the accessibility of the whole solution, and implementing administration tools. As a connection technology the solution uses 10 gigabyte Ethernet. Priority was given to security and QoS support.

The new solution is ready for application services as well as for the future Fiber Channel integration of a part of the data center into IP network, and also for the expected increase in the number of servers (up to 100). The whole project had three phases: preparation and writing up the project, implementation and creating the project documentation, and finally providing post-implementation support and starting with routine operation.

The 10th year of Cisco Expo 2009 was hosted by the Clarion Congress Hotel in Prague on 15 and 16 April 2009. The event was attended by more than a thousand visitors.
