There is increasing consensus that the real key to delivering better business results from software-intensive systems is to improve the communication between business and IT. Creating a collaborative dialogue from the adversarial culture which frequently underlies this relationship – whether the IT team are in-house, off-shore, outsourced, or some mix of all three – is not a straightforward business.

In the first of a series of SMS workshops on transforming the business-IT relationship, Jill Pritchet and Roger Gamage will be exploring how to achieve an effecive collaborative culture.

Those attending this workshop will learn:

  • what are the common barriers to change, and successful strategies for overcoming them
  • where to start
  • how to plan for success
  • how to make effective use of quality standards.

Who should attend:

This workshop is for business managers seeking to gain a better understanding of effective use of IT; IT managers and Heads of IT, particularly those managing outsourced supply teams; Programme and Team leaders of in-house and outsourced software development teams; Bid Management and Procurement teams concerned with outsourced software services. Keywords: transformation; effectiveness; partnership; collaboration; business focus; creativity; business culture; staff retention; knowledge management; learning organization.
