ELEKS took part in the conference on e-government

ELEKS Software took part in the ‘E-Government Day 2009’conference, which was held in Kyiv, Ukraine on May 14, 2009. The conference was organized by the National Academy of Public Administration under the Office of the President of Ukraine (NAPA) under the auspices of Main Department of the Civil Service of Ukraine and State Informatization Committee of Ukraine. The basic purpose of the conference was to promote popularization of e-government idea and e-democracy among Ukrainian state authorities and local self-government and to demonstrate native and foreign experience in best usage of these issues.

The event was attended by approximately 300 guests – representatives from the Secretariat of the President of Ukraine, Secretariat of the Cabinet of Ministers, Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, central and local executive bodies, local government, teachers and doctors of the Academy, and other organizations.

The main topics discussed on the conference were e-government at the national (central) level, e-government at the regional and local levels, sectoral e-government (e-Medicine, e-Education, etc.) and e-democracy.

Native researchers, practitioners and academics who were invited to the conference, demonstrated their presentations on their research findings and practical usage of e-government. Oleksiy Skrypnyk, CEO of ELEKS Software, made a presentation on ‘The concept of open society and e-government’, demonstrating examples of solutions already implemented by ELEKS Software for the States of Jersey, Guernsey and Isle of Man (UK). This presentation caused audience’s interest for discussion. The members of the Eleks’ delegation took part in the meetings of working groups and discussed with other participants the strategy of developing an open society, ways of realization of e-government initiatives at central and local levels, schemes of rendering e-service and establishment of e-democracy in Ukraine. Eleks’ representatives demonstrated the solutions developed by Eleks in the area of e-government, e-learning, healthcare and transportation.

Among the honored guests who welcomed to the conference were head of the National Academy Volodymyr Prikhodko, Project Coordinator of democratic governance Ilariya Karnevali, Deputy Head of Civil Service of Ukraine Andriy Vishnevsky, Minister of Economy and Communications of Estonia Juhan Parts, plenipotentiary Ambassador of Norway in Ukraine Olav Berstad, Chairman Deputy of State Informatization Committee of Ukraine A. Semenchenko.

A number of interesting meetings were held during the conference and we hope they will lead to further collaboration with various government institutions and will allow us to make a contribution to establishment of e-society in Ukraine.
