Free Cadastral Portal the IT Project of 2008

One year after starting the operation of Free Cadastral Portal, which was for the Geodesy, Cartography and Cadastre Authority of SR (GCCA SR) implemented by NESS Slovakia, a.s., was this project acknowledged also by the professional IT community. At the annual gala event IT GALA 2008, held on September 18th, 2008 in Bratislava, this project won among all enlisted projects in the category IT PROJECT of 2008.

This prestigious award, now in its eighth year, is being granted by the independent association of Slovak journalists and members of professional associations in field of information technologies and telecommunications, and it includes also awards IT COMPANY and IT PERSONALITY of the year. It aims at acknowledging the professional and managerial efforts of personalities and companies active in the field of information technologies and telecommunications, as well as the most significant projects carried out the respective year.

“The free cadastral portal is undoubtedly one of the first pubic electronic services and its high visit rate ranks it among the most used portals on the Slovak Internet. In addition to this benefit, we have also appreciated the fact, that its disclosure has enabled to increase the public awareness, legal confidence of citizens and not least also to improve the quality of data in the cadastral databases“, substantiated the victory of Free Portal project Martin Drobny, Editor-in-chief, Inforware monthly magazine and member of the professional committee.

„We were really pleased by getting this award because launching the Free Cadastral Portal was of immense importance also for us – it denoted the beginning of electronization of the department of geodesy, cartography and cadastre”, said JUDr. Stefan Moyzes, President of GCCA SR in response to the IT Project of 2008 award. “We are planning to continue in the electronization of services – towards the public and private sectors, as well as other subjects of public administration – focusing on efficiency, security and transparency in processes of the department management“.

High usage of the free cadastre portal, as compared to its previous fee-based version, is validated also by the up-to-date visit rate figures. The fee-based cadastre portal application had been used in the 3 and half years of its operation (from February 2004 to August 2007) by approximately 28 thousand users, whoa had in that time generated about 1 million property deed outputs and ca 50 thousand cadastral map displays. As compared to current data, by September 30th 2008 – i.e. in one year of its operation – the free cadastral portal was used by more than 2 million users generating 6 million property deed outputs and over 2.2 million cadastral map displays.

Since the launch of its operation, the daily visit rate of the free cadastral portal in average exceeds 10 000 users. Interest in information from the free portal has a rising trend, which is proven also by the statistics. To this day, the portal was used to search almost 73% of the current total number of property deeds registered in the IS database of the cadastre of real estates.

The forthcoming plans of GCCA SR in the field of cadastre portal development relate to the aim to provide its clients the most complex and solid information possible. In this respect, the department of geodesy, cartography and cadastre is planning to implement services of electronic provision of property deed extracts intended for legal purposes and service of electronic filing via intelligent electronic forms for the purposes of ensuring electronic communication among cadastre offices, the public and other subjects of public administration. Thanks to such extension of provided services, the portal will be able to satisfy further demands of its users.
