Plzensky Prazdroj will gain a quick and detailed overview of its production intended for export, using the SappyWMS from Aimtec.

Pilsen, 18.3.2010 – Plzensky Prazdroj implements management using bar codes in their dispatch warehouse using the SappyWMS solution from a Pilsen based IT supplier and integrator – Aimtec. The main objective of the project is to provide a complete and immediate traceability of produce movement in the export warehouse in Pilsen.

Plzensky Prazdroj, with total sales of 10,5 mil hectolitres in calendar year 2009 and export to over 50 countries worldwide, is one of the leading beer produces in the world. Plzensky Prazdroj, a.s. is a member of the global SABMiller plc. For SABMiller plc., Plzensky Prazdroj represents a flagship, which has long been synonymous with high quality products and an unchanging customer platform.

SappyWMS – WMS respecting SAP ERP

Plzensky Prazdroj put out a tender for the optimisation and traceability of warehouse processes in its Pilsen export warehouse. Three production lines, fitted with automatic label applicators, flow into the dispatch warehouse. Marking using labels has insofar not been used for recording and management of subsequent movements. The proposal for improvement of the current situation was brought by Aimtec, selected from a number of major IT players on the Czech market. They offered a specialised solution SappyWMS built on an SAP platform. Aimtec developed SappyWMS based on its twelve-year history in the market of Warehouse Management Systems.

SappyWMS reflects all experience gained so far, how a quality WMS should work, whilst at the same time maintaining corporate standards of the current ERP system SAP in Plzensky Prazdroj. SappyWMS expands flexibility options of the SAP WM standard components for inventory and warehouse management. Goods evidence in the Plzensky Prazdroj warehouse will be based on tracking unique handling units. Individual warehouse transaction will be carried out using on-line barcode scanners.

100% visibility and traceability

Management of logistical operations in the export warehouse with the deployment of barcodes will result in increased quality of constant and perfect overview about the movement and age of stored stock. Another benefit will also be the refined traceability of this stock on the market within the meaning of Directive of the European Parliament and Council (EC) No 178/2002. The export warehouse project will bring 100% overview of what was produced and where was which batch of what product distributed.

The project has been divided into two phases. The first part will be “business design” – definition of the project which will be submitted for approval to the SABMiller headquarters in London. This approved standard can subsequently be used in other warehouses in the Czech Republic and worldwide branches of the SABMiller group. The second phase represent the actual implementation in the Pilsen export warehouse. The solution is at the same time prepared for future marking of barrels and other packaging, which should clarify their evidence.
