IBA Attends Ukrainian Outsourcing Forum 2007

IBA attended the Ukrainian Outsourcing Forum 2007 that was held from November 1 to November 2 in Kiev, Ukraine. The forum program included a conference, round table discussions, and matchmaking meetings. Outsourcing gurus, business people from Eastern Europe, the United States and the European Union, as well as representatives of national IT Associations attended the event.

Speakers in the conference argued that IT is becoming a commodity, being increasingly treated as gas, electricity or water. According to Parvis Hanson, General Director of Hanson Consulting, IT companies need to penetrate the product business through innovation sourcing. IT should serve as a “sweet wrapper” or a shell for a new product. This way, IT companies will be able to find their niches.

Christian Berner, Managing Partner of CBP Cross Border Projects, said that the Ukrainian IT market is attractive for foreign businesses. For instance, German clients prefer to work with local providers. The markets of Hungary, Poland, and the Baltic States are overheated. Ukraine and Belarus might become a good alternative to India and China.

At the Forum, IBA held meetings with representatives of foreign companies and made a presentation entitled “IBA Group: Outsourcing from Europe to Europe”.
