According to IVSZ the raise of broadband penetration plays an emphasized role in the recovery from crisis and reducing the number of digitally illiterate people. At last week’s management meeting IVSZ decided to create a new structure which – according to the intention of organizations with interest representation – increases the effectiveness of functioning and which might give a proper answer to the challenge of ICT sector in an economic environment hit by the crisis. However, IVSZ focuses on the strategic sectors of the future. One of the sectors is increasing the Hungarian broadband internet penetration. This is greatly supported by Akos Bona,a member of the management.

“One way of recovering from the crisis and discovering new ways of growth is to develop broadband infrastructure. In order to do this there is a need to spread the services available on the networks and to teach people how to do it. Increasing current level of Hungarian broadband internet penetration would have an immediate positive influence on the enterprises and the citizens. Having a “digital literacy” plays a key role in creating a competitive, knowledge-based economy. 50% of Hungarian people are digitally illiterate, so members of the market, the government and the civil sector have left much to do about it” – said Akos Bona, member of the IVSZ management responsible for controlling and broadband, General Manager of IS Media Kft.

Beside speeding up the configuration of the broadband internet infrastructure for the whole country, the new member of the management also thinks that there is a vital need for development of modern content that may help spread telework and tele-education and the use of electronic civil services in a wide range. He would like to continue IVSZ’s practice by doing considerable lobby activities with the members of the government, as well as planning together with them and strengthening the cooperation for the future.
