Latvian IT Cluster participates in GITI 2009

Latvian IT Cluster was represented in second regional Georgia IT Innovation Conference that was held in Tbilisi on October 29-30, 2009. The event was organized by the Georgia ICT Business Council and the State Commission of e-Governance Development of Georgia, with the support of USAID Georgia and the RCI Project.GITI conference 2009.

Latvian IT Cluster was invited by Georgian Ministry of Economy to present cluster activities in the conference. During the conference Cluster succeeded in sharing experience of Latvian IT Cluster and excellence of Latvian IT companies.

Together with Mr. Rinalds Osuroks Deputy Director of IT Cluster and Janis Bergs, Chairman of the Board, four companies were represented at GITI: „FMS Group”, „Rix Technologies”, „BDA” and „AA Projekts”. Latvian IT Cluster and companies managers extended network of contacts with other clusters and IT copmanies from Geargia and Bulgaria, Croatia and Macedonia.

The purpose of GITI conference is to describe the significance of information technology in terms of creating an engine of growth for socio-economic development of Region; network with stakeholders and build awareness regarding IT importance among high-level governmental officials, private sector representatives and the society at large. Panel of keynote speakers bring a diverse set of insights on different advancements on IT initiatives around the world.

GITI conference was accompanied by Georgian IT Innovation Awards 2009. The purpose of the award ceremony is to credit governmental and private entities for good work and best practices and encourage them and others to invest their time and energy in further development of the IT field.
