„IT“ group sales grew by 16% in 1st half of 2008

Information systems services and consulting company “Informacines technologijos” (IT) group earned 11,9 million EUR during 1st half of 2008. Revenues have risen by 16 percentage points compared with profit margin over the same period in 2007. The company keeps the growing profits during the economic slowdown due to international business lines.

We do not forecast decreasing income this year – with the help of our international business lines. On average a third of our work force is constantly engaged in the projects abroad. Though we see our income increase, the number of tenders in the private sector is decreasing. Orders from the clients in Latvian and Estonia public sectors are also decreasing, says the Head of IT group Kestutis Uzpalis.

There are 450 employees currently working in the company‘s affiliates in the Baltic countries and Poland. During the first half of the year, Oracle Human Resources Management system has been implemented in “Mazeikiu nafta” oil refinery. Oracle based financial system “eAccounting” has been implemented in Vilnius municipality. The new system is fully compatible with the new accounting standards for public institutions.

In Latvia we won 4,3 million EUR contract for Latvian state revenue service to deliver an Excise Movement and Control System (EMCS).

During the second quarter of this year our business in Poland has gained momentum. We have assembled a mixed team of local and Lithuanian experts for the projects in Poland. Currently the team is working on insurance system projects in Commercial Union Polska” and “Liberty Insurance Poland”, says Kestutis Uzpalis.

Another recent project completed abroad – development and implementation of the Client internet self service module for Danish insurer “Codan Forsikring”. We received an order from another company of this client – “Lietuvos draudimas”.

The first stage of TIA (The Insurance Application) implementation has been completed at “Mutual and Federal” in South Africa.

According to the data of the Bank of Lithuania, total exports of Lithuanian IT sector services were 4,96 million EUR. IT group revenues from IT services abroad were 1,2 million EUR, a fourth of all the country’s IT exports.
