IT outsourcing deal must have culture fit, says expert

Companies should look for an IT outsourcing company that has a “culture fit” to its own business ethos, according to an expert.

Ross Taylor, marketing manager at Direct Response, says enterprises should aim for a strong relationship with their IT outsourcing provider, but also make sure that they do not rely too heavily on them, as this can cause the deal to fail in the early stages.

“You need to make sure there is an ongoing process of communication between the two parties and that those two parties communicate in a way that is a natural fit for both people,” he advises.

Good synergy between the two firms is one of the key elements for ensuring the success of an outsourcing deal, Mr Taylor asserts.

Recently, Georgina O’Toole and Peter Clarke, senior and principal analysts at Ovum, suggested that chancellor Alistair Darling’s Budget will lead to increased spending on IT outsourcing as public sector organisations and agencies look to reduce expenditure.
