IT outsourcing is best option for downsized firms, says guru

IT outsourcing is a necessary method for companies that have been forced to downsize during the recession, according to an expert.

Aaron Sawchuck, chief technology officer and co-founder of ColoSpace, tells SearchDataCenter.com that IT outsourcing is often the best option for enterprises that have reduced their headcount but still want to expand their infrastructure without paying for ongoing operating and staffing expenses.

He adds that IT outsourcing is a way of avoiding investing in costly hardware.

Mr Sawchuck explains that renting servers costs much less over the short and long-term than buying equipment, according to the news provider.

Small and medium-sized businesses also stand to benefit from outsourcing, he suggests.

“If a [firm] has fewer than 50 machines they rarely need a full-time server administration or network staff,” Mr Sawchuck asserts.

Meanwhile, Sean Craig, head of managed services at Capita Learning and Development, recently said IT outsourcing can help companies prepare for the economic upswing.
