IT outsourcing users must have adequate data governance

Companies using IT outsourcing in London should ensure they have adequate data governance policies in place, an expert asserts.

Dean Wiltshire, senior product analyst for data quality at Pitney Bowes Business Insight, claims that the amount of data held by organisations doubles every year or so.

He says that it is important that the different sources of this information are appreciated and managed, which could impact on how companies relate to their IT outsourcing in London provider.

“That’s the beginning of a quality data initiative, starting with a good data governance policy – that’s the nucleus that starts the downstream,” he asserts.

Mr Wiltshire calls for firms that use IT outsourcing in London to manage their customer relationship management software should ensure that the quality of data in these systems is of a high enough standard.

Pitney Bowes Business Insight recently issued a report calling for more companies to measure the reliability of their data, as 42 per cent of businesses do not measure this.
