Miratech has been selected by CJSC “Kyivstar GSM” to provide Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) solution based on Citrix technologies and HP Thin Clients. Placing the order is the result of a tender held by CJSC “Kyivstar GSM” with several major IT service providers and system integrators being invited to submit the bids.

The solution is designed to optimize the cost of ownership and maintenance of infrastructure and workstations, as well as to improve security of information resources and their availability. To explore the economic impact of VDI, in the course of the tender Miratech deployed a test bed based on Citrix XenDesktop, and carried out compliance tests to meet Customer requirements concerning:

• Thin Clients support;
• Implementation of High Availability modes;
• System backup and recovery;
• Management and monitoring of virtual desktops;
• Support for USB devices;
• Software Operability in virtual environment to run multimedia applications and Call Centers Software;
• Support for Active Directory;
• Speeds creation of new virtual machines;
• Operating via low rate channels;
• Scenarios for application delivery to user desktops.

The project to be implemented within a period of two years. The first phase of the project provides for 400 virtual desktops with the option of scaling up based on actual results of the project.
