The role of IT management and sourcing leaders will be increasingly important in the IT outsourcing industry over the next few years, one industry expert has claimed.

Allie Young, vice-president and distinguished analyst at Gartner, claimed that these individuals – along with service executives – must take on extra responsibility in order to help their organisations navigate current market forces.

This is essential if new norms of outsourcing are to be applied in a successful way, she claimed.

“Embrace the opportunities that these forces introduce to reinvent IT support of business goals,” Ms Young urged.

She was speaking after Gartner highlighted a number of major forces that are currently shaping the future of IT support services in London and further afield.

These included hyperdigitisation, globalisation, consumerisation, intelligence and technology, value chain, and security and privacy.
