Luxoft Introduces World’s First Android-Based OEM Software Platform for Automotive Infotainment

Luxoft, a leading global provider of advanced application and product development services, today announced that it has created the world’s first Google Android-based original equipment manufacturers (OEM) software platform for automotive infotainment, LUXnet. The platform delivers a successful combination of social networking capabilities with navigation, multimedia and connectivity services, including dynamic points of interest (POIs) and voice over IP (VoIP).

LUXnet supports BeagleBoard-compatible hardware platforms, and works with a wide-range of interfaces, including CAN, HDMI, USB, SD cards, 3G, WiFi and Bluetooth. LUXnet is designed for in-car social networking and dynamic navigation use, and comes with integrated Facebook and Twitter capabilities. Its easy-to-use interface is designed with car ergonomics in mind. Additional LUXnet features include: Internet connectivity, support for downloadable applications, intelligent data caching and geocaching.

“We see great potential in Google Android implementation for the automotive industry,” said Michael Minkevich, VP Technology Services, Luxoft. “Due its advanced infotainment functionality, LUXnet makes the popular Android platform more attractive to the automotive OEMs and suppliers. Luxoft is committed to providing the automotive market with efficient solutions that will greatly reduce costs and the time needed to deliver new products to market, and LUXnet is a perfect example of such a solution.”

LUXnet is an Android-based OEM software platform for head units and personal navigation devices (PNDs). OEMs can take the easy-to-deploy, extendable LUXnet platform and rapidly develop a new product by customizing it, and thus drastically cutting the development costs and time to market, while Luxoft’s professional services can further accelerate the development process. Using the LUXnet platform, OEMs can develop a variety of products, including but not limited to PND, head units and rear seat entertainment systems.

Luxoft is showcasing LUXnet and other innovative solutions for the automotive industry at the 8th annual Telematics Munich 2010 event, November 3rd and 4th, at booth number two. Luxoft’s automotive software unit offers ready-to-implement software product platforms for OEMs and Tier-1 and Tier-2 automotive suppliers. The experienced team of engineers can customize its platform according to OEM needs and assists with the product development.
