Luxoft, a leading global provider of advanced application and product development services, today announced it has joined the Global Infotainment Alliance GENIVI, an automotive industry association driving the development and adoption of an open In-Vehicle Infotainment (IVI) reference platform. By joining the Alliance, Luxoft demonstrates its long- term commitment to the standards-based innovation in automotive infotainment.

In-vehicle Infotainment covers entertainment and information features and functionality available in automobiles. IVI is a rapidly changing and expanding field within the automotive industry and covers many types of vehicle infotainment applications including music, news, multimedia, navigation, telephony, Internet services and more.

The GENIVI Alliance — with members including BMW Group, Wind River, Intel, GM, PSA, Delphi, and Visteon — spearheads the development of reusable, open source IVI platform consisting of the essential core services (e.g., media and graphics) required by IVI systems. The GENIVI platform establishes a foundation upon which automobile manufacturers and their suppliers can add their differentiated products and services, resulting in faster time-to-market and dramatically reduced development costs.

Employing over 250 industry professionals, Luxoft’s automotive team specializes in real-time and embedded applications development, system engineering, automotive specific interfaces, wireless communications and cellular networking. The company’s IVI experts develop car infotainment software, technologies, methods and applications including multimedia, road assistance, head unit software, and car-to-gadgets integration employing technologies such as Bluetooth, ZigBee, WiFi, MOST and CAN, VoIP and OTA software upgrades.
