Lviv is Recognized as One of the Most Promising Destinations for IT Outsourcing

According to the Exploring Global Frontiers report made by KPMG, a global network of professional services firms, Lviv is on the list among 31 locations worldwide recently emerging as viable IT and business process outsourcing hubs.

Since the existing favorite places for outsourcing become saturated, many companies are looking for new locations that are capable of offering significant advantages, including costs optimization, brilliant talents, deep technological expertise and other.

“Corporates now need to know which locations to consider next for their outsourcing activities. There are many locations around the world which are able to supply a credible outsourcing capability. However, there are subtle nuances in terms of labor skills, niche specialisms and government incentives which have led us to highlight these 31 locations as stars of the future”, claimed Edge Zarrella, Global Head of IT Advisory at KPMG (the source: www.kpmg.com).

The Report provides an overview of the outsourcing destinations which are alternative to already known ones – newer emerging cities in the Americas, Asia-Pacific, Europe, Middle East and Africa. It also outlines the key factors that influence the location decision making for each of these regions.

Being Ukraine’s seventh largest city and one of its man cultural centers, Lviv is named among the most perspective locations for IT and business process outsourcing in EMEA. Nowadays, there are several large ICT domestic companies in Lviv, including ELEKS Software. Many of them are capable of offering a wide range of services in IT outsourcing, engineering, and research and development.

Lviv has a number of advantages, which make it an attractive nearshore and offshore destination for Western companies who are looking for outsourcing partners. According to the Report, the key drivers for Lviv as a favorable IT-BPO destination include:

  • a highly educated workforce with a large number of technical graduates and engineers
  • a strong position of Lviv in IT industry in Ukraine
  • a number of local IT-BPO companies, which can be acquired or partnered with to enter the country
  • good cultural and geographical proximity to Western Europe and time-zone advantage that make the city suited for offshore deliveries to Western countries.

All in all, the list of highlighted destinations includes 10 locations in the Americas (Buenos Aires, Campinas, Curitiba, Calgary, Winnipeg, Santiago, Guadalajara, Queretaro, Boise, Indianapolis); 10 in Asia-Pacific (Brisbane, Changsha, Hangzhou, Ahmedabad, Jaipur, Nagpur, Penang, Davao City, Iloilo City, Ho Chi Minh City); and 11 in Europe, the Middle East and Africa (Sofia, Zagreb, Cairo, Port Louis, Belfast, Gdansk, Cluj-Napoca, Rostov-on-Don, Belgrade, Tunis and Lviv).
