Macedonia IT market to drop 12.1 percent in 2010

IT spending in the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia is expected to decline by 12.1 percent in 2010 and to rise by a compound annual growth rate of 5.2 percent to USD 212 million in 2014, according to IDC Adriatics. The IT market in Macedonia grew by 1.8 percent in 2009, to USD 164.48 million.

Measured by the local currency, the market grew by 7.2 percent. Macedonia was one of few countries that did not experience drastic cuts in the use of IT technology last year and growth can be attributed to the effects of government spending in this sector. At the same time, the use of IT technology in the real sector and households saw a drastic drop because of the economic crisis.
