MAIB achieves ISO 27001 certification following consultancy project carried out by Endava

Moldova Agroindbank (MAIB) has been certified to the ISO 27001:2005 standard  – the world’s highest accreditation for information protection and security.  This is the result of working closely with Endava, who has provided information security consultancy services within a 2-year project aiming to prepare MAIB for this unique achievement for the banking sector in R.Moldova.

MAIB is the first banking organisation in Moldova and one of the few in the region to obtain this certification, following an assessment done by SRAC – the leading auditing company in Romania for management systems.

Implementing an information security management system according to ISO 27001 requires a shift to a qualitatively new organisational structure of the bank’s information security . The ISO 27001 principles ensure that information security exists at all levels throughout the bank,  reduce the internal and external risks to business continuity and can also contribute to the increase in overall organisational efficiency and operational performance.

“The ISO 27001 certification confirms MAIB’s commitment to ensuring security of the information we manage. This guarantees confidentiality, integrity and availability of all information provided by our customers, partners and stakeholders.” – declared the project team coordinator, Ion Iuras, Vicepresident MAIB.

Vasile Nedelciuc, Chairman of Endava in Moldova, said “The development of a financial organisation is stongly influenced by its Information Security Management System (ISMS). Implementing an ISMS that meets the requirements of the current information security standards is a prerequisite for achieving a competitive position in the financial-services industry.”
