Meetings at the American Chamber of Commerce

December 8, 2009, the annual meeting of the American Chamber of Commerce in Ukraine was held. The meeting received the report for the past year and elected Board of Directors for 2010. The participants were greeted by John Francis Tefft, the newly appointed U.S. Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador to Ukraine.

December 9 the Chamber in conjunction with the Overseas Security Advisory Council (OSAC) hosted a Cyber Security Conference. The event, supported by Microsoft Ukraine, was opened by U.S. Ambassador John Tefft. He noted the importance of combating cybercrime, and stressed that no country in the world, given the spread of information technology, is able to cope with such challenges alone. The Ambassador informed the participants on changes of the staff of the American diplomatic mission – a new employee is FBI expert on computer crime. The Chamber’s OSAC Cyber Security Conference was attended by the Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, representatives of the Washington office of OSAC, employees of the Federal Bureau of Investigation. Mr. Roland Hofmann, Government Engagement Manager, Microsoft – Central & Eastern Europe, has provided presentation on information security. Both events were attended by Valeriy Kutsyy, CEO Miratech, and Mykola Royenko, President of the company.

Mykola Royenko, commenting on the results of the forum in the context of the domestic market of IT services for banking and finance, said that “as for today, issues of information security not only haven’t lost its relevance, but, given the trends of IT development, gained a whole new meaning. For companies working in this field, this situation opens up new perspectives – including those in practical terms of growing market share, which relates to IT security. That is why Miratech paid and will pay great attention to these questions.”
