Melon wins four first prizes at Bulgarian Web Awards

MelonMobile.com runner-up to another Melon project Melon Inc. won four first prizes out of five submissions at the 2nd annual Bulgarian Web Awards competition yesterday, 24 June 2010. The website which made it only to second place in the Functional design subcategory, melonmobile.com, was out of luck as it shared the same category with another one of Melon’s projects and competition proved too tough.

The Web Awards, organized by the Bulgarian Web Association, distinguished a total of 52 projects in 5 major categories (Industries, Media – websites, Media – blogs, Media – forums, and Professional) divided in 45 subcategories.

In the Industries category, Melon won three awards. In the Production subcategory, we were recognized for the OMV Super Hero web game commissioned by OMV Bulgaria and designed to interactively promote OMV’s motor oil Bixxol. Melon conquered a second gold in industrial awards in the Science and Education subcategory with the website for the American University in Bulgaria. A third winner in this category, fotoalbum.eu won the first prize for Melon in the Free Time subcategory. This website offers users to create unlimited in size personal photo galleries for free and boasts the biggest coverage of European countries and languages. It generates more than 4,000,000 monthly pageviews.

In the Professional category, bookatable.com won the first prize in the Functional design subcategory. For this website, Melon implemented geo-location, map navigation, and multi-language support (9 languages at the moment). It is now Europe’s biggest online restaurant reservations website, enlisting over 6,000 restaurants in 19 European countries.

We are happy that behind each of our awarded projects there stands a happy customer and great teamwork on our side. It is an honor to be further recognized by the Bulgarian Web Association and our colleagues in the industry.
