Modernisation of logistical processes in Gumotex a.s.

Gumotex will use a Warehouse Management System from Aimtec for its Automotive branch warehouse.

Major Czech Republic manufacturer of polyurethene foams, Gumotex, will for its Automotive branch in Breclavi use the DCI MySite warehouse management system from AIMTEC a.s. Implementation of bar codes within the plant will have a positive impact on the management of logistical flows with customers and allow Gumotex to improve cooperation with its suppliers.

The joint-stock company Gumotex represents a stable manufacturing company, which has been active on the Czech market for 60 years already. The company produces foam mattresses for customers from the furniture industry. To the automotive sector, it supplies sun visors, foam seat cushions, head rests, parts from expanded polypropylene (EPP) and gear levers. The company further focusses on special products for sport and leisure, such as dinghies, boats, rafts and inflatable tents. The Automotive division comprises of plants in Breclav, Most and Jaromer, where Gumotex previously purchased a share of TANEX Plast company. Among its customers are car manufacturers Skoda Auto, Volkswagen Group and automotive industry suppliers such as for instance Johnson Controls, Lear, Faurecia, Grammer, Proseat, IACG, ISRI, Kongsberg, Irisbus Iveco.

Comprehensive delivery from Aimtec

For its Automotive branch in Breclav, Gumotex sought not only a proven warehouse management solution, but also a supplier who would handle the entire project. The company turned to a reliable supplier whom they had experience with from a previous implementation of a Warehouse Management System in their Most plant GUMOTEX Automotive. This partner is Aimtec, with their own solution for the management of warehouse processes – DCI MySite, representing an audited product, considered a standard by the big automotive industry players.

Aimtec will supply not only the software product DCI MySite, but also the hardware equipment, i.e. radiofrequency Motorola terminals, server, thermotransfer printers and radio network, and integrate all of it into the existing Gumotex IT infrastructure. Part of an extensive project is also business consultancy, consisting of setting up of logistical processes. A prerequisite is integration of the Warehouse Management System into an existing company information system and consequently the new information system which will be put in operation middle of the year.

Objectives achievable in 2.5 months

Processes specifically addressed in Gumotex is the receipt of material, inspection linked to acceptance, marking of pallets with labels and bar codes, material warehouse management, stocking into positions, release of material into production, replenishment of material on production lines using an internal kanban system, finished goods warehouse management, all the way to picking in accordance with a dispatch note and compliance with the rules of FIFO and inventory processes. Main objective of the project is the implementation of a WMS system to support processes in accordance with audited requirements of key customers, i.e. error-free dispatch, FIFO, traceability and the option of managed storage of material and finished goods without a fixed zone layout.

The project will be realised within a short 2.5 month period, from mid February 2010 with expected conclusion as early as end of April of the same year. Once completed, implementation of a Warehouse Management System is also considered for other branches of Gumotex a.s.
