Nokia Siemens Networks Sets up New R&D Center in Hungary

Nokia Siemens Network Solutions, one of the world’s leading ICT network equipment makers, has picked Hungary as one of its key R&D hubs in the railway telecommunications (GSM-R) sector.

This decision could add a further 100 employees to the company’s staff, and enhance its R&D capacities. One innovation, the so-called ‘Self-Organizing Network’ (which allows communications networks to operate automatically and with full precision), is currently being developed by the company’s Hungarian development unit and will probably be completed alongside other cuttingedge technologies in the future.

Beyond direct economic benefits, the investment offers the prospect of Hungarian railway operators adopting GSM-R technology to increase the efficiency of their services and the level of comfort offered to passengers.
