December 16, 2009, Radisson SAS in Kiev saw the Norwegian-Ukrainian business seminar, organized by the Royal Norwegian Embassy in cooperation with the Norwegian-Ukrainian Chamber of Commerce. During the seminar was discussed economic cooperation between the two countries, in particular, the seminar had considered ways and the investment goals of Norway to Ukraine, the potential of investments in science and innovation, as well as the practices of cooperation between the two countries in a historical flashback.

Activities of the Norwegian-Ukrainian Chamber of Commerce, commenced in December 2008, have already proved to be a success in the field of intensification of the intergovernmental dialogue on improving economic cooperation between our countries. It is therefore not surprising, that the seminar was attended not only by department heads and leading experts from ministries and state agencies of Ukraine, heads of industry associations and enterprise managers, but also by prominent representatives of business community, lawyers and economists of our countries.

Commenting on the seminar, Alexey Perekatov, Miratech Vice President, Corporate Marketing, emphasized that “the debates on the need to mitigate the tax legislation of Ukraine in view of its membership in various international trade organizations get warm reception. Furthermore, the legal aspects of establishing cooperation between Ukraine and Norway in the field of heavy machinery were discussed; the ways of strengthening partnerships in high technology sector earned particular attention, too.” Mykola Royenko, President of the company, who also attended the event, noted that “the level of participants is indicative of the business community’s interest in discussing these issues. And this is logical: Ukraine and Norway have already a great number of diverse and rewarding partnerships, so businesses have always something to tell the audience.”

Pal Torjus Halsne, EDB Country Representative Ukraine, made the attendees acquainted with the experience of Norwegian corporation. In particular, he shared the company’s outlooks for the future and spoke about the strategies used to promote EDB’s solutions in the Ukrainian market. In his report Mr. Halsne drew the attention to the benefits of building IT infrastructure for governmental bodies and the private sector in cooperation with those companies that have expertise in this area. Olav Berstad, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Norway to Ukraine, praised the ambitious plans of EDB Business Partner and Miratech, as well as the uniqueness of the offer that companies jointly promote in the Ukrainian market.
