Outsourcing ‘will see another boom’

Firms should invest in outsourcing this year as the sector is likely to experience another boom, according to experts.

Andrew Saunders and Alastair Dryburgh, writing for Management Today, suggest firms use IT outsourcing as it “will seriously reduce your capital requirements – which is what counts most at the moment”.

They recommend that firms avoid spending money on extra capacity when the work can be done by an outsourcing firm.

Mr Saunders and Mr Dryburgh’s assertions that outsourcing will see another boom in 2009 are echoed by Vinita Gupta.

Writing for Express Computer, Mr Gupta said that IT outsourcing will pick up in the latter part of the year after a slowdown in the first half of 2009.

He claimed chief information officers will initially take longer to make decisions about IT outsourcing because they will be under pressure from bosses to prove their investments provide value for the business.
