SAP ERP business information system implementation in PLASTKOV AUTOMOTIVE a.s.

The Aimtec Company, a successful provider of consulting services in the area of information technologies, possessing rich experience with plastics industry processes, has started the implementation of a new SAP ERP information system in the PLASTKOV AUTOMOTIVE Company, which has its seat in Hlinsko. The company is a leading manufacturer and supplier of components to the automotive and electric industries. The new information system shall bring a high quality support for production, logistics and finance processes, as well as become an effective tool to consolidate the company data.

The PLASTKOV AUTOMOTIVE Company was established as an affiliated company of the ETA enterprise more than ten years ago. Whereas the ETA Company is famous for its tradition of sixty years in the production of domestic electrical appliances, the PLASTKOV Company specialises in the manufacturing of components for the automotive industry. PLASTKOV focuses on the construction and production of mouldings and tools, the production of iron and plastic parts, and also on the assembly of final sets. Among the customers of the company are significant suppliers to the automotive industry, such as Valeo, Kostal, Kongsberg Automotive, Grupo Antolin and other businesses.

Different production program in the PLASTKOV division led to the change of the information system, as the legacy information system of the company did not satisfy the different requirements for an information system in the environment of automotive industry suppliers. Main difficulties consisted in incorrect capacity planning, production lines throughput and deficient electronic communication with customers (call-offs receipt and processing). Therefore, the company was considering purchasing a new information system to cover fully the above mentioned problematic areas, in addition to standard functionalities. Based on the experience of its employees and positive references by a potential supplier, the company soon arrived at a decision to choose the SAP information system with a default SappyCar solution by the Pilsen-based Aimtec Company, which has a rich experience with the SAP solution implementation in plastic components companies, which perform supplies to the automotive industry.

The system implementation process was started in mid-October this year. The project consisting of several stages is expected to be finalised at the end of 2009. The project is divided into four main stages. The first stage deals with business finance support – finance, assets and controlling. The second stage, which shall start in the beginning of 2009, will focus on logistics, production and quality support. The solution roll-out from the Hlinsko-based plant (PLASTKOV AUTOMOTIVE) to the Liberec-based plant (PLASTKOV MR) will be carried out during the third stage. The final fourth stage shall focus on the implementation of the HCM module that covers payroll and personnel departments. The new information system shall also enable unified monitoring of financial and controlling data in the two plants – PLASTKOV AUTOMOTIVE and PLASTKOV MR in Liberec.
