Presentation on IT-JUMP at Belarusian Universities

Hi-Tech Park made a presentation on the National Youth IT-Competition IT-JUMP 2012 at the universities of Minsk, Grodno, Polotsk and Vitebsk.

Information on the competition was provided for the students who study at the Department of Applied Mathematics and Information Technologies of BSU, Faculty of Information Technologies and Control and Faculty of Computer Systems and Networks of BSUIR, Department of Mathematics and Information Technologies of Grodno State University, Department of Information Technologies of Polotsk University and Department of Mathematics of Vitebsk State Univesity.

“IT-JUMP Competition gives the youth a unique opportunity not only to create their own startup and get advice from reputable experts, but also to meet potential investors – a source of financial resources necessary to launch the startup”, – said Deputy Director of HTP Administration Alexander Martinkevich.

Besides, best projects in each category will be awarded with prizes from HTP resident-companies EPAM Systems, Game Stream and HTC BLR. They will receive 56, 16 and 8 million of Belarusian Rubles for the first, second and third places correspondingly.

The competition has three categories: “Best mobile apps for Android”, “Best game project”, “Excellence in software development”.

After the presentation director of startup MapsWithMe Alexander Zolotarev also made a speech. MapsWithMe unites young Belarusian engineers who created a unique technology of map data compression. It enables smartphones and tablets users to use travel maps that work on their devices, even if there is no Internet connection. This application has already been downloaded by 500 thousand people.

The final of the competition will take place on November 1st, 2012 in the format of investments fair.
