At a meeting of a Security Council devoted to the improvement of the military organization of Russia for the period through 2020, Russian President Vladimir Putin said that Russia must respond effectively to cyber threats and increase the level of protection of information systems at strategic facilities, RIA Novosti reports.
“We need to be prepared to effectively fend off threats in cyberspace, increasing the level of protection through the appropriate infrastructure, in particular, for information systems at strategic and critical facilities,” said President Putin.
The President noted that “information attacks” are already being used to address problems of a military-political nature. He also stated that this “amazing power” may be higher than that of conventional weapons.
