S&T Serbia installs logistics system at Milsped

Serbia’s most complex warehouse management solution implemented over a period of only ten months

On behalf of Milsped d.o.o. (the Adriatic region’s leading logistics enterprise), S&T Serbia planned an extremely complex warehouse management system based on Infor WMS, equipped it with add-on modules and implemented it, all within ten months. This project has allowed Milsped to overhaul its business processes and significantly improve the efficiency of its warehouse operations.

Established in 1993, Milsped is the Adriatic region’s leading logistics enterprise. Milsped provides a range of transportation services that includes road haulage, air, sea and rail freight as well as customs services, warehouse services and goods distribution. The company employs more than 500 people and has 29 branches in Serbia and Montenegro. In 2007, Milsped achieved a turnover of 172 million euros. It handles around 700 business transactions each day and around 215,000 annually. Milsped has a new warehouse facility in Belgrade with a floor area of 25,000 mІ and 41 quays for incoming and outgoing goods. A company operating on this scale with such a broad spectrum of business activities must have an excellent infrastructure and provide high quality services, and it thus requires a comprehensive IT system for warehouse management that provides optimum support for business processes. With this in mind, the logistics specialists commissioned S&T Serbia to plan and implement an Infor Warehouse Management System (WMS). “This was Serbia’s most complex WMS project to date and our experts there completed it successfully,” comments Christian Rosner, CEO S&T.

Standard system with tailor-made, add-on modules

The system installed by S&T Serbia covers a range of business functions, such as goods receipt, quality control and storage, as well as additional services, including billing, inventory, packaging and dispatching goods and work orders. In addition to implementing the warehouse management system, S&T Serbia supplied RF devices (radio frequency devices for mobile data entry) and integrated them into the system to provide support to business processes. The S&T team also developed a brand new module for managing the business processes of the customs warehouse (in accordance with the respective local regulations) and fully integrated this with the standard Infor WMS solution. “Milsped benefits hugely from the Infor warehouse management system as it allows us to improve our services to customers and expand into new markets. Infor WMS helps us to determine storage areas and to process a wide range of customers and complicated customer requirements,” explains Nikola Todorovic, Warehouse Department Director at Milsped. “This solution also opens the door to new markets and new customers we would not have had access to had it not been for the comprehensive, multilayer software solution we have in WMS,” stresses Todorovic.
