S&T Hungary: Science and Education also go for SAP

S&T implements ERP solution at Central European University in Budapest

With 13 departments, 13 research centers, 30 Master’s programs and 11 doctoral programs, the university could be easily compared to a large enterprise. The Central European University (CEU) chose S&T as its partner for the implementation of an SAP ERP solution to support its increasing business processes.
CEU is an internationally recognized institution of graduate education in the social sciences, the humanities and business (CEU Business School). It seeks to contribute to the development of open societies in Central and Eastern Europe, and in emerging democracies worldwide. CEU acts as an advanced center of research and policy analysis and facilitates academic dialogue.

The SAP ERP 6.0 solution, developed for large enterprises, will serve the different departments at the university based on a single unified system, starting from August 2010. It enables university-wide control in the areas of finance, procurement as well as inventory, asset and project management. More than 100 employees will use this unique state-of-the-art application implemented by S&T and thus contribute to the efficiency of the institution. S&T enabled departments and units to continuously electronically monitor their cost budget. Facilities like the library and the student dormitory are also going to be connected to the system.

”Our aim was to enhance the efficiency of the university. We attach great importance to the fact that our software must be capable of handling additional functions, such as campus management, human capital management, alumni connections and E-learning. The solution provided by S&T fulfills all these criteria”, says Mark Kiss, CFO of CEU.

The main focus of SAP at universities and research facilities is the improvement of information quality, which influences core areas of the institution. S&T knows these challenges, and offers professional consulting in optimizing its IT architecture. Moreover, S&T Hungary has over 15 years of experience in implementing SAP solutions, based on the group-wide PROMET® project implementation methodology.
