On March 18th, 2009 the Belarusian-Swedish seminar “Discover IT Belarus” took place in the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences. The purpose of the event was to expanding cooperation between Belarusian and Swedish companies in the field of software development.

ScienceSoft was represented by Ulad Radkevitch, VP Sales, Marketing and Business Development. Ulad held a presentation to demonstrate the company’s software development expertise and shared ScienceSoft experience of cooperation with Nordic countries.

The event was initiated by Belarus High-Tech Park (HTP) administration, an organization that is aimed at boosting the competitive power of new and high technology-based sectors in Belarus. Alexander Matinkevich, the Deputy Director of the HTP, introduced opportunities of working with Belarusian software development companies. Besides favourable location of the country and a large pool of skillful professionals, he mentioned special tax conditions for the HTP member-companies. Thus, such business environment ensures addition cost-savings and other benefits for foreign customers, who choose to outsource to Belarus.

A number of Swedish trade organizations and IT companies visited the event. Some of them already worked with Belarusian software development companies and expressed their opinion on IT-Belarus. Christer Bolestedt, the representative of Tieto, highly evaluated the business conditions and possibilities in the Belarusian market. His judgment is based on the real experience of working in Belarus with ScienceSoft. After a year of outsourcing partnership, Tieto and ScienceSoft established a joint venture company – software development center of Tieto in Belarus.
