Open Technology Week by Sigma Software Gathered Lviv IT Community

This year began for us with a series of events for Lviv IT community, which were aimed at experience exchange and live networking. Every night, from January 23 to January 27, Sigma Software Lviv office welcomed developers, test engineers, managers, designers, and team leaders. All the funds raised during Technology Week were sent to IT-Mykolay, a charity project, collecting money for children with cancer.

The best company experts presented speeches on the most trending topics at different areas, from AR/VR development and mobile applications creation to design practices and efficient ways for managing a team.

Monday was a .NET day with one speech dedicated to the overview of Microsoft HoloLens – a world’s first holographic computer and the most awaited device on AR/VR market. The participants got acquainted with its hardware and software platforms and had a chance to test Microsoft HoloLens in real life. The second speech focused on functional programming for .NET developers.

The next day Sigma Software experts highlighted two topics, interesting to everyone engaged in the design world. Why usability become more and more significant for successful businesses, and what place should it take in the process of product development? Then followed the talk involving typography and practical advices on letters and fonts design.

On Wednesday, January 25th, we invited Lviv mobile developers to learn how to automate the mobile project release cycle, as well as listen to the overview of OpenGLES2.0 library.

Big Data became the main topic on January 26th. The speakers shared their hands-on experience on how to run Spark in existing infrastructure and made an introduction to forecasting.

The closing meetup was targeted to project managers and team leaders, who learnt about the reverse delegation, tried games helping to build a team, and got practical advices from specialists with about 10 years of experience in IT management.

“Our company is a frequent organizer of various meetups for IT community development. However, this initiative is very special for us, since it has a larger scale and embraces different areas and directions. We are particularly glad to contribute to children health. During the whole week of events we have raised 29,540 UAH that were sent to IT-Mykolay charity project. We are considering running such events in other cities, where the company has local offices. We`d like to thank everyone, who became our guests these days and joined us to support kids”,

says Volodymyr Chyrva, Development Director at Sigma Software.
