Silicon Valley gets serious about outsourcing to Eastern Europe

Michael Shraybman, Cogniance CEO spoke today at Stanford University’s European Entrepreneurship and Innovation Thought Leaders speaker series session dedicated to understanding the important roles played by the venture capital and software outsourcing sectors in Eastern Europe and their growing linkages to Silicon Valley.

“The perception of software outsourcing is gradually shifting from low-cost, commodity-like services once made famous by large-scale technology centers in India and China to that of innovative, creative, high-quality, and agile product development approaches that fit entrepreneurial, Silicon Valley-style mentality,” said Michael Shraybman. “Eastern European software outsourcing companies offer a very attractive value proposition to their customers by being able to put together high-caliber and loyal teams that are also cost-effective and well aligned culturally with the West. This shift now firmly has the attention of the startup founders, early-stage technical executives, and investors in Silicon Valley and Europe, whose only option until recently has been to build their products in-house”.

“We are very pleased to feature Cogniance as a leading representative of the emerging Ukrainian software outsourcing sector. The Ukraine is one of the largest sources of highly-educated technical talent in Europe and we are glad to see strong bridges being built between Silicon Valley and Ukrainian companies,” said Dr. Burton Lee, a Stanford Engineering Consulting Professor and organizer of the graduate seminar.
