SpeedTraps, Winner of the Romanian Nokia Calling All Innovators Competition

AROBS Transilvania Software, developer of SpeedTraps, won the 1st prize in the Nokia’s 2010 Calling All Innovators Competition in Romania. SpeedTraps intends to create a national community of drivers, willing to take part in announcing traffic events.

The contest was launched in March and the finalists were announced end of June. AROBS participated in Calling All Innovators contest together with 16 other Romanian developers which submitted 22 mobile applications.

The prize won by SpeedTraps application include a cash award of 6,000 Euro.

SpeedTraps was launched by AROBS for worldwide users this May and the Romanian users in August. The application has been downloaded by 46,800 international users and over 6,600 Romanian users by now.

SpeedTraps is a free application and can downloaded from www.alertesoferi.ro on any iPhone, Android or Nokia Smartphone with an active Internet connection.

The innovation brought by this application stands in the possibility of drivers to communicate among them while on the road. They will be able to report traffic real-time events, such as: traffic jams, police patrols, mobile and fixed speed cameras. The drivers will also have the possibility to vote the traffic events submitted by other drivers, to confirm or deny their alerts. All alerts can be sent using Twitter and Facebook.

SpeedTraps is already available on Nokia Ovi Store.
