Microsoft Certified Professional Developer (MCPD) certification emphasise a level of qualification needed for particular working position. Holders of such certifications can easily present themselves as specialists. MCPDs are experts in designing and developing enterprise solutions including desktop, web and distributed applications. Zdenek Ceska has obtained the highest MCPD certification: Enterprise Application Developer.

Microsoft Certified Program (MCP) helps to orientate easily among technologies and recognize the level of knowledge. MCP has recently gone through several significant changes. Former orientation to administration and development of applications has changed. Nowadays, MCP offers a wide range of certifications. There are certifications for databases, office applications, technical support, project management or budget management and financial results forecast. Certifications cover all areas of development and management in IT companies. They are designed to help anybody who wants to reach a high level of specialisation. Furthermore, such certifications help to establish standards and processes within a company. They are also benefit when acquiring ISO9001 or CMM certification which is our long-term goal.

What certifications mean for Zdenek personally?

Firstly, it’s a great opportunity to test the knowledge that I have gained during my working experience. Secondly, it’s an ability to analyse a problem in detail and choose a suitable solution. From the very beginning certifications has gone through a significant change including a system of testing. Questions are now very practical and time given to solve the problem has decreased. One is then facing real situations. In a company I am working for I need to develop varied applications for Web and desktop. This was the main reason I decided to obtain the highest Microsoft Certified Professional Developer (MCPD) certification: Enterprise Application Developer. This type of certification demonstrates a complex knowledge essentiall to design and develop enterprise multi-layer solution. Certification consists of five exams and is neccessary to gradually pass also technological certifications Microsoft Certified Technology Specialist (MCTS). MCTS are focused on desktop, web and distributed solutions.
