Ukraine computer software exports to hit USD 1 bln in 2010

Ukraine’s computer software exports are expected to reach USD 1 billion in 2010, according to the country’s vice-prime minister Serhiy Tyhypko.

Ukraine is currently the world’s fifth biggest IT services exporter and this figure is doubling every year. “Steel export totals USD 2.8 billion, exports of agricultural products are up at USD 9.5 billion, and chemical products export reached USD 3.5 billion. Exports of software products are worth USD 1 billion. Moreover, the inflow doubles each year,” said the vice-PM.

According to the ‘Central and Eastern Europe IT Outsourcing Review 2010′, around 14,000 IT specialists graduate from Ukrainian universities each year. The report also shows that Romania led in the annual growth in the number of IT specialists with 12.33 percent. Ukraine ranked second in the region with a 9.5 percent growth. Ukraine also stood out with the highest outsourcing market volume in Europe of estimated USD 700 million in 2009.
