Fima, the intelligent engineering solutions company, in cooperation with its partner Alna Intelligence have completed installation of a unique system of remote video conferences in Lietuvos Gelezinkeliai, the first conference equipment of this size and degree of modernity in the Baltic states. Facilitated by the system, the video conferences will enable Lietuvos Gelezinkeliai to save time and money on business trips.

The Head of the Communications Division of Lietuvos Gelezinkeliai Railway Infrastructure Directorate, Laisvydas Rudzianskas, says that installation of the new advanced video conferencing system to replace the outdated analogue system will improve the company’s planning and resource distribution capacities, enhance management efficiency and save time of the company’s employees, particularly executives. “Furthermore, it will enable us to solve technical problems that emerge with the repairs and maintenance of the old equipment, as well as compatibility of digital and analogue communication systems,” said Rudzianskas.

E. Kurtinaitis, the Head of Fima’s Telecommunications Solutions Department, said the video conferencing system had been launched in 25 administrative centres of Lietuvos Gelezinkeliai across Lithuania – from Vilnius to Klaipeda. In each of the administrative centres, the video conferencing equipment consists of high-resolution LCD screens, video transmission cameras and an audio system. The system allows holding meetings, making presentations and organizing seminars for participants in different cities, with up to a few dozen people taking part in a conversation.

The video conferencing system features other technical options – the project entails the market’s most advanced video cameras that give conference participants a sensation of real communication. Furthermore, screens can simultaneously display the speaker and the material he presents. The video communication system is also fully connected to the telephone communication system, therefore, persons not involved in a video conference can be telephoned during the session and be included in the conversation. The video conferencing system features a number of automated solutions, for instance, video camera automatically turns towards a conference participant who switches on his microphone.
