On 9 April, Reval Hotel Latvija will host the first Virtualization Symposium in Latvia. IT managers, IT infrastructure architects, system administrators and developers as well as network engineers are invited to take part in the event.

Virtualization solutions are becoming increasingly popular, because they facilitate the use of single server resources for multiple IT systems. Thus several operating systems or business applications may be run on a single server. In addition, it facilitates consolidation of the whole IT infrastructure of an organization (servers, data storage facilities) and maximum utilization of resources.

The slogan of this year’s Virtualization Symposium is “Virtual but Real.” This is the best reflection of the key message to IT strategists, namely that virtualization lends all the properties of physical servers to the virtual ones that are used like separate servers. In fact, it changes the understanding of IT infrastructure as it enables organizations to cut costs and increase data centre flexibility.

At the symposium, reports will be read by representatives of VMware, a leading virtualization solutions company. Infrastructure modernization projects that have already been implemented in Latvia and abroad will be analyzed at the event. The benefits of virtualization will be demonstrated as well: simple creation of new servers, resource allocation, recovery after an incident, etc. Developers will present their models to reveal things alternative solution providers hush up about virtualization.
