The boom period in the Eastern European (EE) software and IT services (SITS) sector came to a halt at the end of last year as the impact of the global economic slowdown took effect. Conditions in these immature markets remain volatile in 2009, with rapid fluctuations in buying behavior and some national markets holding up better than others.
Hosted by Eugen Schwab-Chesaru, Managing Director, PAC Bucharest, and George Mironescu, Senior Consultant, PAC Bucharest, the latest webinar examines how Eastern Europe has been hit by the economical downturn and how the six most important EE countries (the Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland, Romania, Russia, Slovakia) have reacted to the new market conditions.
These countries are still expected to have much higher growth rates in the post-crisis period in terms of SITS spend, but today the focus is on short-term strategy. The short-term, conservative approach that many SITS suppliers are taking aims to defend existing business levels, however it does not prepare the companies for when real momentum returns to the market in 2010-2011.
PAC offers a short-term view of the industry, as well as an insight into the mid- and long-term opportunities that will stem from the EE software and IT services market. The following are just some of the questions that will be addressed: Which vertical sectors are hit hardest? Which industries show real mid-term opportunities? What are customers expecting in terms of IT services and solutions?
