Baltic Countries Remain Attractive as Outsourcing Market

All three Baltc countries continue to do well as providers of outsourcing for Western companies.

Among others, Samsung Electronics Co Ltd has set up a call centre in Latvia while Cytic industries, world’s second largest manunfacturer of carbon fibre, moved its financial and personnel department ot Latvia in 2010. The company now has 130 employees in Latvia.

Vilnius hosts an IT centre of Danish engineering solutions provider Cowi A/S. Donatas Ozelis, head of the IT centre, said that the reason was that Lithuania’s labor costs and server costs were much cheaper than in Scandinavia.

One of the companies that has also outsourced operations to Estonia is H1 Communications AB that offers customer service solutions because Estonian labour costs are about 20 percent of the Swedish level.

Mattias Loov, CEO of H1 Communication AB, says that the company is hiring new employees for jobs in its call centre and customer service centre in Tallinn.

“Everybody is looking at their administration cost level and considering how to offer quality service at reasonable costs,” said Loov, adding that Baltic countries remained an attractive provider of outsourcing services.

Also Nordea, the largest bank in Scandinavia, plans to expand its call centre in Tallinn, confirmed Jan-Liina Liiv, press spokesperson of Nordea.
